Driving in Paris is insane, but the parking might be worse. Here are a few things I witnessed:
Cars park on the corners here. It just goes against every fiber of my being. How can cars see who’s coming?? I guess they don’t care.
You know that whole “don’t park against the flow of traffic” thing? Yeah, doesn’t exist here. Cars park however they want.
This was a car and a dump truck parked nose to nose, inches away. UMM WHAT
Look how close these cars are. I know it’s hard to see, but the car on the left has a hitch on it that’s literally like, an inch and a half away from the other car’s bumper.
No room to park your bike on the street? Just park it on the sidewalk!
And a few bonus ones from my time in Nice so far. Apparently bad parking isn’t just limited to Paris! Could these cars BE any closer? (Chandler Bing reference)
Cars in Nice also just go ahead and park in the lane. 1, someone could totally rear-end them, and 2, how is the person next to them supposed to get out?
My new English friend Sam sent me this one, since I told him about this post on my blog. Since when is it okay to park on the sidewalk?? So THAT’S why there are posts every few feet on the sidewalk.
I realize this should probably be called “Parking in France” since three of the photos are from Nice but I like the alliteration of “Parking in Paris” 🙂 HAHA English language nerd right here.

Ah yeah, that’s annoying, I’ve done that before! I can’t figure out a way for me to change it, but I think you might be able to; on the bottom of the email, it should say “Subscription settings” and then if you click it you can change your preferences. I consider myself a pretty good driver and an ace at parking….but have NO clue how you’d get your car out of a parking space in these situations….hmmmm…maybe you can put up some video of a car getting OUT of the spot! LOL Love reading all your posts, Kels!

This is what I would call Permanent Paris Parking. Once you get wedged into those spots with an inch to spare and/or someone double parks next to you…there is no getting out! Eeeek!
Since parking rules are weird, are insurance rules also? Is there car insurance like here in the States?

I loved your pics of the parking. This was my experience in Rome and Athens also. It must be a European thing to do. I asked if there wasn’t rules and they said their was BUT……
